Junior Research Symposium on English Language Education for World Citizenship: Challenges and Opportunities – 2016

Junior Research Symposium on “English Language Education for World Citizenship: Challenges and Opportunities” organized by the English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 15th of July 2016 at the ELTU. The symposium was aimed to showcase undergraduate research from diverse areas of English language teaching. There were eighteen abstracts that were presented by forty six undergraduates of the TESL degree programme.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Harshana Rabukwella, Director, Post Graduate Institute of English, The Open University of Sri Lanka who was the Guest of Honour of the event. Senior Professor Sunanda Madduma Bandara, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Prof. Lakshaman Seneviratne, the Dean, Faculty of Humanities, Senior Prof. M. J. S. Wijeratne, Chairman of the Research Council, University of Kelaniya, Ms. Mahishi Ranaweera, Head of the ELTU, other Heads of Departments, academic staff, non- academic staff and undergraduates were present at this event.
