A Blood Donation and Health Care Camp named “Swastha” organized by the Commerce Students’ Association was held on the 6th of July 2017 at the premises of the Student Centre of the University of Kelaniya. Many volunteers joined hands with Commerce Students’ Association in this noble cause and contributed their part to the humanity as donating blood may help in saving someone’s life.
Charity work not only improves the organization skills but also encourages cooperation and teamwork among the undergraduates of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies. During this Health Care Camp, a lecture on “Good Health Habits” was delivered by Prof. Anuja Premawardhana and a “Thalassemia Awareness Programme” was conducted by Dr. Madhawa Chandrathilaka.
Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Dr. Ajantha Samarakoon, the Head of the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Dr.D.U. Mohan, the Head of the Department of Human Resources Management, officers of the National Blood Centre, members of Ragama Faculty of Medicine and Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute, members of “Hemals”-Adolescent and Adult Thalassaemia Care Unit of North Colombo (Ragama) Teaching Hospital, academic and non-academic staff members and the many undergraduates of the University of Kelaniya participated in this event.
