The Coordinating Centre for Students with Disabilities invited students to a conversation with Deshabandhu Manique Gunaratne, Manager – Specialized Training and Disability Resource Centre of the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon, on the 11th of July 2017 at the Department of English Language Teaching.

Ms. Gunaratne offered a very informative talk on available assistive technology for students with visual difficulties for note-keeping, reasonable accommodations at examinations and new IT software, to enable better and equal access to technology for students with visual difficulties at university-level. As part of her talk, she also facilitated a discussion with the students on current challenges to accessing information, lectures and accessible examination formats.

This event was participated by Dr. (Ms.) Shyamani Hettiarachchi, the Director of the Coordinating Centre for Students with Disabilities, Prof. S.R.D. Kalingamudali of the Department of Physics, and the undergraduates with disabilities of the University.
