Offering Postgraduate Degree Programs of UoK in Bangladesh

The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) has taken the initiative to provide postgraduate degree programmes of the University of Kelaniya (UoK) in Bangladesh through an exclusive corporate partner namely Cambrian Int’l Study Centre (CISC). The CISC is a part of the BSB-Cambrian Education Group, one of the leading private education providers in Bangladesh.

Based on the MoU signed between the two institutions earlier, an agreement was signed by Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya and Mr. Ln M K Bashar PMJF, the Chairman of CISC on the 11th of September 2017 in order to strengthen the academic activities. This agreement allows CISC to represent UoK as the exclusive corporate partner in Bangladesh for the purpose of promoting and recruiting students and conducting the postgraduate programmes, offered by Faculty of Graduate Studies, in the UoK in Sri Lanka. Further, UoK provides all curriculums, teaching materials, evaluation procedure of the degree programmes which are conducted in Bangladesh. Finally, the degree and the certificate will be offered from UoK to the students of CISC upon successfully completion of the programme.

Initially, CISC and UoK agreed to conduct three postgraduate degree programmes namely, Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Business in Accounting and Finance (MBuS in Accounting and Finance) and Master of Business Management in Marketing (MBM) in CISC for Bangladeshi students. The FGS and program coordinators shall coordinate with CISC in Bangladesh to offer the programs and shall commence the programmes in October 2017. The objectives of this initiative are to increase international students pursuing demand driven programs of UoK using offshore sites, to help promote Sri Lanka as an international destination for higher education in South Asia and to help improving the rankings of UoK.

Mr. Ln M K Bashar PMJFs, the Chairman of the CISC, Capt. Safat Md. Rafsun Juny, the Chief Coordinator of CISC, several journalists of Bangladesh, Prof. J.M.D. Ariyarathne, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Dr. P.N.D Fernando, the Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies (FCMS), Registrar, Librarian, Director / International Student Affairs Unit, all the Heads of the Departments attached to the FCMS, the Postgraduate programme Coordinators and Administrative Officers and non-academic staff of FGS graced this memorable and important occasion.
