A student from the University of Kelaniya represents the First Sri Lankan troupe who conquered the K2 Mountain, Pakistan

The Karakorum is a large mountain range which spans its borders to Pakistan, India, and China, the extremity of the range extends to Afghanistan and Tajikistan as well. The Karakoram is home to the four most closely located peaks over 8000m in height on earth: K2, the second highest peak in the world at 8,611 m (28,251 ft), Gasherbrum I, Broad Peak and Gasherbrum II.
A team of 12 old boys’ scouts of Dharmaraja College, Kandy conquered the K2 which is the highest point of the Karakorum Mountain range recently. It is said that the K2 peak of the Karakorum mountain range is the second highest peak in the world as well as one of the most dangerous mountains in the World.
This was the first Sri Lankan team who conquered the K2 Mountain. L.A.L.C.S. Liyanasooriya, a first year undergraduate from the Faculty of Science of the University of Kelaniya represented the team of the first Sri Lankan team who conquered the K2 mountain.
They have dedicated for three weeks from the 31st of August 2017 to 22nd of September 2017 to the expedition to the K2 mountain. The Everest Mountain which is 8,848 m (29,029 ft) high is the highest peak in the world and the K2 mountain is the second highest peak in the world at 8,611 m (28,251 ft).
