‘ALAMBANA’ – Photography Exhibition – 2017

The inaugural ceremony of the photography exhibition, ‘ALAMBANA’: Jeewithauyaka Newathunu Kaacha Seyaawa, organized by the Bachelor Arts (Hons.) students of the Department of Mass Communication was successfully held for the 3rd consecutive time on the 26th and 27th October 2017 at the Art Gallery of the University.

At this exhibition, the photographs taken by the undergraduates who study Mass Communication and Public Relations and Media Management were exhibited. Ms. Amani Ireshika won the first prize at this Photography Exhibition.

Preliminarily, Mr. D.G. Somapala who is a Director, Scriptwriter, Artist & well-known Photographer, as well as Mr. Gunadasa Hettiarachchi who is a renowned photographer were appreciated with awards for their great service rendered to the field of Arts in Sri Lanka.

At this event, Prof. Uditha Gayashan Gunasekera, from the Department of Fine Arts and Senior Lecturer Aruna Lokuliyana, the Head of the Department of Mass Communication conducted a workshop on ‘Photography’ for the undergraduates and schoolchildren.

The Inauguration Ceremony was graced by Prof. Uditha Gayashan Gunasekera from the Department of Fine Arts, Senior Lecturer Aruna Lokuliyana, the Head of the Department of Mass Communication Prof. Mapa Thilakarathne from the Department of Mass Communication, Venerable Dr. Dodamkumbure Dhammadassi Thero, the Director of the Interfaculty Centre for Coordinating the Modular System (ICCMS), other academic and non-academic staff members of the Department of Mass Communication, many undergraduates and many schoolchildren participated in this event.
