‘Path Finder 2017’ – Career Guidance Workshop

The “Path Finder 2017” – Career Guidance Workshop organized by the Students’ Association of Commerce, Department of Commerce & Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies, University of Kelaniya was successfully held on the 16th of November 2017 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies. The workshop was organized with the objective of guiding the undergraduates to develop their professional capabilities.
Dr. P.N.D. Fernando, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies graced the event as the Chief Guest. During the first session of the workshop, the Dean of the Commerce & Management Studies and Dr. S.M.A.K. Samarakoon Head, Department of Commerce and Financial Management delivered two detailed lectures.
Prof. Clement Sudhahar, Head, Karunya School of Management, Karunya University, India, who was the Guest of Honour of the workshop, delivered the keynote address and explained about the preparation for professional activities and how to exercise and maintain the professional competence.
During the second session of the workshop, Mr. Kolitha Gunarathne, Human Resource Specialist at Bank of Ceylon, Human Resource Consultant at Sampath Bank, explained how the market has determined the value of the employees.
At the same session, Mr. Gihan Talgodapitiya, Director, Human Resource Management Institute, ILO Expert and International Corporate Trainer also delivered a special lecture. His ideas came up with a theoretical and practical approach on the management of professional activities in the face of challenges.
The Inaugural Ceremony of the event was also graced by Dr. W.V.A.D. Karunarathne. Head of Department of Accountancy, and Dr. D.U. Mohan, Head, Department of Human Resources Management and other academic staff of the Department of Commerce & Financial Management.
A large number of undergraduates from the faculty of Commerce and Management Studies participated in this workshop. Furthermore, a series of walk-in interviews aimed at the undergraduates was also conducted by Mass Holdings Pvt. Ltd. during the workshop.
