The University of Kelaniya and Sichuan University, China on November 27, 2017 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Senate Room of the University of Kelaniya. The MoU accords to exchange the undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students between the two universities as well as the exchange of academic staff and researchers in teaching and scientific research. It further states that the two universities may develop a common platform for scientific research, and the exchange of journals and other academic works on bilateral agreements.
The MOU was signed by Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, the Vice- Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya as well as Prof. Yan Shijing, Vice-President of the Sichuan University, China. The event was coordinated by Dr. Mangala Katugampala, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Archeology.
Prof. Yao Leye, Director, Office of Social Science, Prof. Huo Wei, Dean of the School of History and Tourism, Prof. Li Zhiqiang, Dean of the School of International Studies, Prof. Huang Yunsong of the School of International Studies, Prof. Lu Hongliang, Deputy Chair, Department of Archeology, School of History and Tourism, Ms. Ji Jing, Translator were present at the event representing the Sichuan University, China.
Prof. Lakshman Seneviratne, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A.H.M.H. Abayarathne, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Neelakshi C. Premawardhena, Director, International Affairs, Senior Prof, Anura Manatunga, Director of the Centre for Heritage Studies, Prof. Nadalagamuwe Dhammadinna Thero and Prof. Malinga Amarasinghe were also present at this event representing the University of Kelaniya.
