A Creative Craft Show organised by the Cultural Centre of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 21st of December 2017 at the lobby of the Faculty of Science. The Knitters, stitchers, hobbyists and crafters were in their element with endless innovations, new product launches and demonstrations. The majority of the exhibits were made with natural materials and discarded materials, so that they were eye-catching exhibits. The main objective of the exhibition was to encourage and inspire the creativity of students as well as to promote courses in the Cultural Centre.
The creative craft show was declared open by Professor Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University. The event was graced by Professor B.M. Jayawardena, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Ven. Dr. Kapugollawe Anandakiththi Thera, Chief Student Counsellor, Ms. Anoma Kumaranayake, Cultural Promotion Officer in Charge. The event was also participated by Professor Patrick Ratnayake, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Professor Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa, Director of Communication & Media Unit, Senior Professor N.P. Sunil Chandra, Chair Professor of Medical Microbiology and Chairman of the Research Council, Heads of Departments, Directors of Centres and Units of the University, Heads of Departments, other academic staff of the University and many undergraduates.
