The 3rd International Conference for Accounting Researchers and Educators (ICARE-2017)

The 3rd International Conference for Accounting Researchers and Educators (ICARE) themed ‘Digitalizing accounting and governance for competitive edge’, organised by the Department of Accountancy, Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies, University of Kelaniya was held on the 22nd of December 2017 at the Auditorium of Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies. Bringing leading scholars and practitioners to exchange and share their experience of research results on all scopes of accounting and governance was the main objective of ICARE 2017.

Professor Danture Wickramasinghe, Chair in Management Accounting, Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, United Kingdom, delivered the keynote speech at the Conference. The research papers of ICARE – 2017 were presented under seven tracks; Accounting and Financial Reporting, Auditing and Forensic Accounting, Governance and Ethics, ICT in Accounting and Auditing, Taxation and Law, Financial Management and Corporate Strategy.

Professor D.M. Semasinghe, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, graced the event as the Chief Guest while the event was also graced by Professor Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor of the University, Dr. P.N.D. Fernando, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies, Dr. Bandara Wanninayake, Director of the Staff Development Centre, Dr. W.V.A.D. Karunarathne, Conference Chair and Head of Department of Accountancy, Dr. K.K. Thilakasiri, Conference Co-Chair, Ms. W.D.N. Aruppala, Conference Secretary, other academic staff of the Department of Accountancy, other Heads and academic staff members of the Academic Departments of the Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies and many undergraduates.
