The launch of “Ahuna penuna māna” and “Klēsha”

The launch of “Ahuna penuna māna” (a Biography) and “Klēsha” (short story collection), authored by Professor Herath Madana Bandara, former Professor of the Department of Economics attached to the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya took place on the 23rd of January 2018 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The event was held under the patronage of Professor. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice-Chancellor of the University and Senior Professor Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University. The event was conducted by Professor Patrick Ratnayake while the event was graced by Professor K. Dharmasena, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya and Professor Sarath Amunugama, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya as the Guests of Honour.
Professor Darshana Rathnayake of the Department of Sinhala of the University of Kelaniya, delivered a critical analysis about “Klēsha” (the Short Story Collection), and pointed out that the book had been very sensitive to the readers as it conveys a deep meaning through simple words. Dr. Praneeth Abeysundara, Senior Lecturer of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura while expressing his opinions on “Ahuna penuna māna” (the Biography), stated that, even though the book had been authored by a person who was engaged in a study field other than the field of literature, the book hadn’t lost its value and interest.
The event was graced by Deans and academic staff members of the Faculty of Humanities and other faculties of the University of Kelaniya, Venerable Professor Kamburugamuwe Vajira Thera, Chancellor of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, some academic staff members of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, Professor D.P.S. Chandrakumara, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, some of the academic staff members of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and some of the academic staff members of the University of Jaffna.
