FACULTY OF HUMANITIES

 (01)    DEPARTMENT OF LINGUISTICS

Post of Lecturer (Probationary) * / Senior Lecturer Grade I/II** in Linguistics

* Obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Special Degree in Linguistics with a class. Preference will be given to the candidate those who have knowledge in Pali, Sanskrit, Tamil and Sign languages.

** Along with the basic qualifications mentioned above, having passed a Post Graduate Degree with the research component and five year teaching experience in a university or in an equal institution.

Post of Lecturer (Probationary) */ Senior Lecturer Grade I/II**in Tamil Language

* Obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Special Degree in Tamil language and literature with a class. Preference will be given to the candidate those who have fair knowledge in Sinhala Language.

** Along with the basic qualifications mentioned above, having a Post Graduate Degree with the research component in relevant subject.
At least 5 year experience in teaching Tamil as a second language and having a considerable/fair knowledge of using Sinhala Language.

Post of Lecturer (Probationary)*/Senior Lecturer Grade I/II** in Translation Methods/Studies

* Obtaining a Bachelor of Arts (Special) with a class in Translation Methods.

Or

General Degree with Translation Methods and English Language with a class and having qualified with a Post-Graduate degree along with research component.

** Along with the basic qualifications mentioned above, having a Post Graduate Degree with a research component in relevant subject and 5 year experience in teaching Translation Methods in a university or in an equal institution.

 

Salary Scales:

1. Senior Lecturer Grade I                     – Rs. 62,293 -7 x 1438 – 72,359 p.m      (U –AC 3 I
2. Senior Lecturer Grade II                    – Rs. 54,363 – 11x 1082 – 66,265 p.m.    (U-AC 3 (II))
3. Lecturer (Probationary)                     – Rs. 37,959 -10 x 883 – 46,789 p.m.      (U-AC 3 (IV)

           
(In addition to the salary an academic allowance for the post 1 & 2, 151% and for the post  3, 115% of the salary will also be paid).

Sabbatical Leave:

The holders of the posts of Senior Lecturer Grade II and above and Chief Medical Officer are eligible for one year of sabbatical leave with full pay or two years of leave without pay on completion of seven years of service. Those proceeding abroad on sabbatical leave are eligible to receive full passage for self and spouse.

Benefits:

Appointee will become a contributor to the Universities Provident Fund, contributing 10% of the monthly salary. The University will contribute 8%, 7% and 3% of the monthly salary to the University Pension Scheme, University Provident Fund and Employees Trust Fund respectively.

Prescribed application forms and details regarding the above Posts could be obtained from the Deputy Registrar/Academic Establishments Branch during office hours or could be downloaded from the University Website: www.kln.ac.lk. Requests for application forms by post should be accompanied with a self–addressed stamped envelope of 23×10 cm in size. All applications together with copies of relevant certificates should be forwarded to the Deputy Registrar/Academic Establishments, University of Kelaniya, Kelaniya, under registered cover to reach him on or before 15.03.2018. 

Candidates should submit separate applications for each post applied for. Incomplete, illegible or late applications will be rejected.  The post should be indicated on the top left hand corner of the envelope.

Applications from employees in the Government Departments, Corporations, Statutory Boards, UGC and Higher Educational Institutions should be channeled through their Heads of Institutions. The University reserve the right to short list the candidates.
