Kelaniya University Alumni Association (KUAA) proudly celebrated its 10th Anniversary on the 21st of April 2018 in Melbourne, Australia. The event was held under the patronage of Senior Professor Lakshman Senevirathne; Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya & Mr. W.M. Karunaratne; Registrar of the University of Kelaniya.
At this grand event, a fund was set up with the aim of providing equipment to facilitate the activities of the students with special needs of the University of Kelaniya and the relevant MoU was also signed. Senior Professor Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, and Mr. Indika Sooriyaarachchi, Chairman of Kelaniya University Alumni Association (KUAA) signed the MoU.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor while expressing the gathering stated that assisting students with special needs was a humanitarian act and Kelaniya University Alumni Association (KUAA) was the first who came forward to do such a charity work. He further stated that KUAA was the most efficient and active alumni Association when compared with other alumni associations around the world.
In addition, over 200 alumni of the University of Kelaniya who live in Melbourne in Australia, some other alumni who live in Sri Lanka, Canada, Dubai, Singapore and New Zealand have also participated in this event.
