The inauguration ceremony of Master of Buddhist studies offered by the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies was held on the 26th of May 2018 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Providing knowledge about the course units of the programme and introducing the academic staff of Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies to the newly enrolled students were the prime objectives of the ceremony.
The 09th batch of Master of Buddhist Studies commenced their degree programme with the participation of 90 Sinhala Medium students and 50 English Medium students.
Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean of Faculty of Humanities participated as the Chief Guest of the ceremony in which the keynote speech was delivered by Ven. Prof. Nabirittankadawara Gnanarathana Thero, expressing his views on the importance of Buddhist Studies. The event was graced by Ven. Prof. Therele Dhammarathana Thero, Head of Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies and academic staff members of the Department.
