Joint Conference of Partial Confucius Institutes in South Asia- 2018

The Joint Conference of Partial Confucius Institutes in South Asia- 2018, jointly organized by the University of Kelaniya and the University of Colombo was held on the 27th and 28th of June at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall.
The conference was held with the objective of strengthening the teaching procedure of Chinese language and culture within South Asia. A special discussion was carried out on the steps to be taken to improve the teaching procedure and the agreements between the Confucius Institutes and the Universities in China.
Mr. Yu Yungfeng- Deputy Chief Executive, Ms. Shao Xubo- Director, Ms. Swang Guoping- Officer, Mr. Zheng Mengline- Officer and Ms. Li Chan- Officer of the Confucius Institute Headquarters graced the event. Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities, Senior Lecturer Dr. Dilrukshi Rathnayake, Head- Department of Modern Languages, Senior Lecturer Dr. Kumari Jayasooriya, Director- Confucius Centre (University of Kelaniya), and Assistant Prof. Wang Wanxia, Co-director- Confucius Centre (University of Kelaniya) graced the event representing the University of Kelaniya. Moreover, school teachers in Chinese and the undergraduates of the University of Kelaniya who study Chinese participated in the event and it was a splendid moment because of the cultural show performed by the undergraduates.
The following day, on the 29th of June, delegates from of the Confucius Institute Headquarters and the University of Kelaniya carried out a discussion with Senior Prof. Lakshaman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor of the University at the Office of the Vice- Chancellor. Present at the occasion were Dean of Faculty of Humanities, Head of Department of Modern Languages and Directors of Confucius Institute and the discussions were conducted on the future proceedings of the Confucius Institute.
After the discussion the delegates from the Confucius Institute Headquarters visited the Confucius Institute of the University and afterwards a special discussion was held between the heads of the Confucius Institute and the delegates form the headquarters.
