Prof. Chamaru De Alwis as the Head of the Department of Human Resource Management

Prof. Chamaru De Alwis assumed duties as the new Head of the Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya. The appointment letter was handed over to Prof. A. Chamaru de Alwis by Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor of the University on the 15th of August 2018 at the Office of the Vice- Chancellor.

Prof. Chamaru De Alwis earned his B.Sc (Special) Honours Degree in Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and completed M.Sc (Management) from the same university. He also completed his Ph.D in Management and Economics form Tomas Bata University.

After obtaining 10 years of industrial experience, he joined the University of Kelaniya in 2005 as a Probationary Lecturer and in 2016 he was promoted as a Professor.
During his academic life, he contributed to the department as the coordinator of Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management and to the faculty as the coordinator of Master of Business Administration. Currently, he is providing his volunteer service to the university as the Director of Career Guidance Unit.

Family Business Succession, Human Resource Management, E-HRM and Total Quality Management are the main research interests of Prof. Chamaru. So far, he had conducted many studies and presented findings of those studies in more than 25 international conferences and published 33 journal articles, 10 of which are in indexed journals. He also had written three books.

He provided his service as a member of editorial adversary boards and member of editorial boards in both national and international journals. He also worked as a reviewer and a session chair of the international and national conferences and twice he was honoured by International Business Information Management Association (IBIMA) for his constructive review.

Moreover, he received second place on the English Paper Award in 8th Annual International Bata Conference and won six Senate Awards for publishing articles in indexed journals. In addition he became the best researcher of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies in 2015 and 2016 and 1st runner-up in 2017.
