A discussion between the University of Kelaniya and the Shinshu University, Japan was held on the 17th of September 2018 at the Office of the Vice- Chancellor, University of Kelaniya. Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya and Prof. Yoshikasu Yamaoki, Dean- Faculty of Economics and Law, Shinshu University led the discussion. A special attention was paid on improving cooperation between the universities.
Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities, Prof. Neelakshi C. Premawardhena, Director- International Affairs, Cadre Chair and Senior Prof. N.P. Sunil Chandra, Chairman- Research Council, Prof. M.M. Gunathilake, Head- Department of Economics and Mr. Weerarathne, Faculty Board Member of FGS representing the University of Kelaniya and three students from Shinshu University who wish to follow their graduate studies at the University of Kelaniya participated in the discussion.
Concurrent to this event, a series of academic programmes was also organized under the patronage of Prof. Patrick Rathnayake and with the participation of Prof. Yokashikasu Yamaoki and the Shinshu University undergraduates. Cadre Chair and Senior Prof. N.P. Sunil Chandra, Prof. M.M. Gunathilake, Senior Lecturer Dr. Dilrukshi Rathnayake, Senior Lecturer Dr. Ajith Dissanayake and academic staff members also participated in the series of programmes.
The entire event was coordinated by Prof. Patrick Rathnayake.
