 The Research Library of the Faculty of Social Sciences was inaugurated mainly for the benefit of the academic staff of the Faculty of Social Sciences. It was declared open officially on 22 ^nd November 2004 by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.

This library gives reference materials relevant to the Social Sciences. The Research Library is organized under three categories.

1. Reference Section

SIDA/SAREC Research Library provides reference facilities for the academic staff members of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Photocopy facilities are available for staff. Other than books, there are important and valuable Magazines and Journals in the reference section.  There are computerized reference facilities for using WINISIS Database for all books and periodicals. 

2. Information Technology Section

Internet facilities are available here. E-Journals also can be searched.

3. Processing Section

All classification and cataloguing are undertaken by the processing section.

Working Hours

Morning           8.30 am to 12.30 am

Afternoon         1.00 pm to   4.00 pm

The library closed Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.
