Hostel Facilities and Wardens of Student Hostels

 Hostel facilities are supplied for a limited number of students by the university. These hostels are situated in the university premises and outside. Staff members are appointed to be part time wardens of those hostels. The entrance fee to the hostel is Rs.100.00.In addition to that, hostel fee for an academic year is Rs.500.00.This should be paid at the beginning of every academic year. In case of first year students they have to pay additional Rs. 500.00 as refundable deposit.

 Selected students should enter to the hosted on due date. Actions are taken to replace other students for those who do not come within 07 days from the due date. Total hostel fee should be paid valid from the due date. Actions are taken to charge thrice as the fee if payments are not settled on due date.

 Although selected, permission is not given to enter the hostel, till total hostel fee is paid by the students.

At the beginning of every academic year, hostel committee is appointed under the leadership of the warden. Reporting of welfare of the students and forwarding recommendations to the warden are the responsibilities of such committees.   The wardens and full time sub wardens of the student hostels are given below.

 Hostel Rules and Regulations

 (a)    Rooms of the hostels are selected for residencies by the warden.

(b)   A resident should not charge the room without the permission of the full time sub warden.

(c)    Residencies should remain at the rooms after 10.00 p.m. Also, they should respect the privacy of other students.

(d)   No student should disturb others in the room or outside.

(e)    Residencies should not give accommodation facilities to a member of the university or outside without the permission of the full time sub warden/warden.

(f)    No student should change the furniture in rooms without the permission of the full time sub warden/warden.

(g)   Furniture off the rooms shouldn’t be kept in balcony or outside the rooms.

(h)   They should be responsible individually as well as collectively of the furniture in a room where more than one student is living. Expenditure for lost, destruction and distortion is charged from responsible person or persons.

(i)     Residencies should not keep any other instrument belongs to the hostel except what is given to him for personal use.

(j)     Keys of the rooms and other instruments issued to the students should be handed over to the full time sub warden/warden at the beginning of the vacation and living the hostel.

(k)   Expenditure for replacement or repairing should be bored by the responsible resident.

(l)     Illegal entrance to a hostel during the vacation is prohibited.

 Use of Personal Electric Instruments

 Electric instruments such as kettles, ovens, irons, table lamps shouldn’t be used without the prior permission of the full time warden. Such instruments used with the permission of the fulltime sub warden, should be checked and approved by an electrician of the university.

 Rules in association with leaving the hostel

 (a)   No resident should leave the hostel before 6.00 a.m. without the permission of the sub warden/warden. Female residents shouldn’t leave the hostel after 7.00 p.m. Male resident shouldn’t leave the hostel after 10.00 p.m. without the permission of the sub warden/warden.    

(b)   No resident should leave the area which has a 5 k.m semi diameter centered to the university without the outgoing permission of the sub warden/warden.

(c)  When the resident comes back after the vacation the permission should be handed over to the warden.

(d)   Students should claim leave from following responsible during academic period from the following persons.

        (i) If it is one week or less than that, from the Dean at his office.

        (ii) If it is more than one week, form the vice chancellor at his office.

(e)  When a student claims leave on medical reasons, he should yet the permission of the Medical Officer of the University.

(f)   In case of emergency, leave can be taken from the warden. The warden reports it to the Dean.

 Note 

  • No resident should seek private medical help without informing the Medical officers of the University first. But, warden has the power to give external medical treatments at a special case. In such an occasion it should be informed to the university medical officer as soon as possible.
  • No Association can be started at the hostel without the permission of the warden. No guest could be invited to deliver lectures without the permission of the warden. 
  • Visitors.

(a)Warden can order any visitor to leave the hostel if he feels it is needed.

(b)A female student should not call any male visitor to her room and a male student shouldn’t call any female visitor to his room without the permission of the warden. 

  • The residentsshould be refrained from giving tips to servants. 
  • Drunk Behavior: Taking liquor is strictly prohibited in the university.

 Instructions to Residents

 (a)   Cloths and Clearing of Cloths.

(i)     Cloths shouldn’t be spread on windows, doors and balconies. Also they shouldn’t be put on furniture to dry.

(ii)   Cloths shouldn’t be put in basins in bath rooms to be soaked.

 

(b)   Electric Lamps

(i)     Students should switch off electric lamps when they leave rooms and bathrooms.

(ii)   All the electric lamps in parlous and rest rooms are switch off  at 10.00 p.m.

 

(c)    Solid Waste

(i)     Solid waste shouldn’t be put in parlous and garden except the useless supplied.

(ii)   Residents should keep their rooms clean. Rooms should be swept daily and the waste should be kept outside the entrance to the room so that servants of the hostel can remove them. For that a broom given to every room and residents should clear them.  

 

(d)   Keeping the Silence

(i)     Residents should keep the silence of the hostel from 9.30 p.m. to 6.00 a.m.

(ii)   Any musical instrument including common radio and television of the hostel are not permitted to use between 9.30p.m. to 6.00 a.m.

 

All the students belong the every hostel should be obey to above rules and regulations. Warden has the power to punish the students who violate these rules and regulations. 

  1. A fine not more than Rs. 50.00 and or
  2. Suspending the right to use the hostel for a certain period of time

 

Whenever such a punishment is imposed, it is recovered in his/her personal file and it is informed to the parents/guardians of the students.
