University of Kelaniya Hosts 24th Chinese Bridge Sri Lanka Finals

The University of Kelaniya hosted the Sri Lanka final of the 24th Chinese Bridge Competition, an international platform promoting Chinese language and cultural exchange. University students from across the country competed in language, speech, and talent contests, with top winners earning the opportunity to represent Sri Lanka in China. The event highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering global partnerships and intercultural understanding through education.

UoK Welcomes New Social Sciences & Humanities Students

The University of Kelaniya launched the Orientation Programme for new undergraduates of the Faculties of Social Sciences and Humanities for the 2023/2024 academic year on June 12, 2025, at Sri Dharmaloka Hall. Mahapola Scholarship Award 2023/2024

The Mahapola Trust Fund has issued the official name list of students eligible for the Mahapola Scholarship under the 2023/2024 academic year for the University of Kelaniya.

Students listed are kindly requested to complete the online application by visiting the official Mahapola Bank Application Portal and following the provided instructions.

After completing the application, a printed copy along with a certified copy of your bank passbook must be submitted on or before 30 June 2025 either via registered post or hand delivery to the following address:

Bursary Results and Student List for Academic Year 2023/2024 Released

The University of Kelaniya has released the approved, rejected, and incomplete student bursary applications for the 2023/2024 academic year. Students are advised to check the official notice here:

Applicants with incomplete submissions should visit the Student Welfare Division to rectify their applications. Bursary recipients must sign the official register between June 17 and July 4, 2025 (excluding weekends and public holidays), from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the relevant faculty office.

කැලණිය විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය විසින් 2023/2024 අධ්‍යයන වර්ෂය සඳහා ඉදිරිපත් කළ ශිෂ්‍යාධාර අයදුම්පත් වල අනුමත, ප්‍රතික්ෂේප සහ අඩුපාඩු සහිත ලැයිස්තු නිකුත් කර ඇත. සිසුන්ට මෙම නිවේදනය බලන්නැයි උපදෙස් දේ:

අඩුපාඩු සහිත අයදුම්පත් ඉදිරිපත් කළ සිසුන්ට ඒවා සම්පූර්ණ කිරීමට ශිෂ්‍ය සේවා අංශය වෙත පැමිණෙන්නා ලෙස දන්වා ඇත. ශිෂ්‍යාධාර හිමිකම් ලැබූ සිසුන් 2025 ජුනි 17 සිට ජූලි 04 දක්වා (සති අන්ත සහ රාජකීය නිවාඩු හැර) පෙරවරු 9.00 සිට පස්වරු 3.30 දක්වා තම පාඨමාලා කටයුතුවලට බාධාවක් නොවන පරිදි, තම අධ්‍යයන ආයතනයට අයත් කාර්යාලයට පැමිණ අත්සන් කළ යුතුය.

Notice: Conferment of Degrees – Application (Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies - 2025)

The University of Kelaniya will be organizing a Graduation Ceremony for the graduands of the Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies, who have successfully completed the final degree examinations.

Eligible graduates are kindly requested to complete the Application Form (PDF) and submit it to the Deputy Registrar, Examinations Division, either by registered post or in person, on or before the deadline mentioned in the form.

The Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology (PGIAR) was established on the 1st January 1986, by order dated 18th December 1985, under section 24A of the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 by the University Grants Commission. The PGIAR is a Postgraduate Institute of the University of Kelaniya. It is the prime institution for postgraduate studies and research in archaeology and subjects related to archaeology in the country.

The Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies (PGIPBS) of the University of Kelaniya was known as the Vidyalankara Institute of Buddhist Studies since its inception on 23rd November 1975 until 30th December 1979. Then, it was affiliated to the Vidyalankara Campus of the University of Ceylon (Sri Lanka). Its present name, status, and structure derived from the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies Ordinance No.8 of 1977, which came into operation on 1st January 1980.
