Indo Sri Lanka Hindi Conference – 2017 collaboratively organized by the Department of Hindi Studies of the University of Kelaniya, the Indian High Commission and the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) to commemorate the Hindi Day which falls on the 14th of September and to enhance the “Hindi E-Learning: Identity and possibilities” was successfully held on the 13th of September 2017 at the auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The launch of an E- Journal titled “E- Prayas” was initiated by the ICC and the two books named “Pap – Punya Ewan Kusal -Akusal” and “Hatharaman Handiyee Hitagath Minisaa” translated by Senior Prof. Upul Ranjith Hewavithanagamage, the Head of the Department of Hindi Studies were also launched on that day.
This conference was participated by Mr. Taranjit Singh Sandhu, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Cadre Chair & Senior Prof. N.P. Sunil Chandra, Director of the Research Council, Prof. Patrick Ratnayake, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Senior Prof. Upul Ranjith Hewavithanagamage, the Head of the Department of Hindi Studies, the representatives of the Indian High Commission and Indian Cultural Centre, lecturers of the Department of Hindi Studies, undergraduates of the Department of Hindi Studies, schoolteachers and many schoolchildren who study Hindi language at school.
