National Workshop on Blended Learning for Education 2018

National Workshop on Blended Learning for Education organized by National E- Learning Resource Centre (NELRC) of University of Kelaniya was held on the 07th, 08th, and 09th of June 2018 at Pegasus Reef Hotel, Wattala. The launch of the official website of National E- Learning Resource Centre (NELRC) and the first interactive multimedia based e- learning production titled “Journey to E- Lankapura” were also announced during the workshop.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- chancellor of University of Kelaniya and Mr. Sunil Hettiarachchi, Secretary, Ministry of Education. Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor of University of Kelaniya, Senior Lecturer Dr. Gamini Wijerathne, Dean, Faculty of Computing and Technology, Prof. Ariyarathne Jayamaha, Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies, Dr. P.N.D. Fernando, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Prof. B.M. Jayawardane, Dean, Faculty of Science, Prof. P.M.C. Thilakarathne, Director, Centre for Distance and Continuing Learning, Cadre chair and Senior Prof. N.P. Sunil Chandra, Chairman- Research Council, Prof. Rohana Laxman Piyadasa, Consultant- National E- Learning Resource Centre (NELRC), Mr. Poorna Bandara, Chairman- ICT Industry Skill Council, Mr. Rohan Abeyrathne, Post Master General, Mr. Jayasundara, Director General- National Planning participated in the event.

The workshop was conducted with the objective of demonstrating a clear understanding of concept, techniques and methods/ principles of blended learning for education, analyzing the learning context to match with blended learning approach and applying blended learning approach for education in Sri Lanka.

Professor LIM Cher Ping, Chair Professor of Learning Technologies and Innovation, the Education University of Hong Kong, Associate Prof. Dr. Divaharan Shanti, National Institute of Education, Singapore, Ms. Lynn Dang, Blended Learning Specialist, the Education University of Hong Kong were the resource persons of the workshop.
