University of Kelaniya Hosts 24th Chinese Bridge Sri Lanka Finals
The University of Kelaniya launched the Orientation Programme for new undergraduates of the Faculties of Social Sciences and Humanities for the 2023/2024 academic year on June 12, 2025, at Sri Dharmaloka Hall. The event marked the beginning of a week-long programme scheduled from June 12 to 17, aimed at familiarizing students with university life. The ceremony was attended by university administration, faculty members, and student affairs representatives.
The SLUSA Colours Awards 2023–2024 at University of Kelaniya celebrated 852 student-athletes, recognizing national-level achievements, special awards, and championship titles, promoting sports excellence across Sri Lankan universities.
The USBUS – Mobile American Space (MAS) Project was launched on May 30, 2025, at the University of Kelaniya to support undergraduate skill development. Organized in partnership with the U.S. Embassy, Sarvodaya Fusion, and LED KLN, the initiative offers workshops in Leadership, English, STEM, and American Entrepreneurship. The first session, “Future Focused Leadership,” was conducted by Mr. Steven Walter from the U.S. Embassy. The event was attended by U.S. Ambassador Julie Chung and senior university officials. Additional workshops are scheduled for June 2nd and 3rd.
The University of Kelaniya and Senfin Securities Limited signed an MoU on July 2, 2025, to promote financial education and capital market awareness. The Department of Commerce and Financial Management spearheaded the initiative, fostering strong industry-academic ties. This partnership aims to empower Sri Lankan youth through enhanced financial literacy and practical market knowledge.
The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Kelaniya celebrated academic excellence with its inaugural Dean’s List Award Ceremony on May 30, 2025. A total of 136 students were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements across various departments. The initiative underscores the Faculty’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and motivation among its student body.
The University of Kelaniya announced Sri Lanka’s first successful IVF pregnancy in the public health sector. The milestone was celebrated on June 2, 2025, at a press event held at the university’s Senate Room. Key university and medical figures highlighted the IVF Centre’s vision and affordable fertility services. The program began in 2024 at the Colombo North Teaching Hospital, offering advanced reproductive care.

Eligible graduates are kindly requested to complete the Application Form (PDF) and submit it to the Deputy Registrar, Examinations Division, either by registered post or in person, on or before the deadline mentioned in the form.

The Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology (PGIAR) was established on the 1st January 1986, by order dated 18th December 1985, under section 24A of the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 by the University Grants Commission. The PGIAR is a Postgraduate Institute of the University of Kelaniya. It is the prime institution for postgraduate studies and research in archaeology and subjects related to archaeology in the country.

The Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies (PGIPBS) of the University of Kelaniya was known as the Vidyalankara Institute of Buddhist Studies since its inception on 23rd November 1975 until 30th December 1979. Then, it was affiliated to the Vidyalankara Campus of the University of Ceylon (Sri Lanka). Its present name, status, and structure derived from the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies Ordinance No.8 of 1977, which came into operation on 1st January 1980.
